Obtaining Full-Text Articles

Many of our database citations have direct links to the full text of the article. If such is the case, there will be a link that appears with the citation that says, e.g., "Text," "Text with graphics," "HTML Full Text," "PDF Full Text," "Click here for electronic resource." In some cases you may need to click more than once.

When You Find a Citation in a Database with No Full Text Link
When the full text of an article is not available in the database you're searching, look for the link to Article Linker. Using this link creates an Article Linker results page that provides options for locating the article.

• If the text is available in other databases, you will get either a direct link to article text, a journal level link to journal table of contents, or a link to the database search screen. (The level of linking is dependent upon the database producer or publisher.)
• If the text is available in the library's print collection, this is indicated by the phrase "Webster Periodicals" (if the periodical is shelved at Webster's Emerson Library) or "Eden Periodicals" (if the periodical is shelved at Eden Seminary’s Luhr Library). If you are a patron at one of Webster's extended campuses, you may use the link to the Article Request Form to request this article.
• If we do not have the text online or in print, you should use the Article Request Form link to request a copy.

To find an article when you already have the citation:
1. From the Library website, go to Articles/Databases.
2. Go to Journal/Magazine/Newspaper A-Z List
3. Search for the title of the journal (not the title of the article).
4. The search results will tell you whether or not we have the journal you're looking for in the date range you need.

• If we have it in another database, there will be a link to that database. Enter information about the article in the new database to retrieve it.
• If we have it in print, the link will say Webster Periodicals if the article is at the Webster University Library or Eden Periodicals if the article is at Eden Theological Seminary. Students and faculty at campuses outside the St. Louis area can use the Article Request Form to request this article.
• If we don't have the article in any of our databases or in print, all users can request it by using the Article Request Form.
