Websites / Search Engines

It's one thing to find web sites on a topic. Access any search engine such as Google, type a few key words, and you will get thousands of results. It’s quite another thing, however, to find QUALITY web sites that you can recommend to your students. Fortunately there are a variety of tools you can use to select Internet sources that will support the learning objectives of your course.

Subject Pages by the Emerson Librarians
As an aid to students and faculty, the Librarians have compiled lists of web sites that address major subject areas, especially those related to the Webster University curriculum. From the Library website, follow the link to "Websites / Search Engines."

The Librarians follow a set of selection criteria which are linked from the "Websites & Search Engines" page. In general, sites included on the library's pages are comprehensive in nature and serve as gateways or portals to the areas they cover. Users become acquainted with the major starting points for research on the Internet and in turn can use these sites to locate narrower items of interest.

Links to websites with suggestions on organizing presentations, handling nerves, and using PowerPoint successfully.

Reference Sources
Access to online encyclopedias, almanacs, biographies, dictionaries, and comprehensive online reference collections.

Statistical Resources
Covers both U.S. and international sources.

Writing Resources
Links to major online writing labs which offer help with grammar, style, professional writing, etc.
