As we work with faculty to achieve their goals, we make use of many different resources and services available to Webster faculty. These resources are listed on this page. Adjunct Handbook
The Adjunct Faculty Handbook provides detailed information on University policies, services, resources and technologies that faculty need to know about and use during various stages of the academic term. This handbook is the result of a university-wide project involving all instructional support units, who were asked “What do faculty need to know about your unit in order to be successful at Webster University and to pass that success on to their students?” Contributors included Human Resources, Student Affairs, the Library, Information Technology, the Academic Resource Center and Writing Center, Instructional Support Services, Office of Assessment, the Registrar, and Academic Affairs.
Fair Use
The Fair Use web page includes extensive information on Webster University’s guidelines on fair use of copyrighted materials in the classroom, publications, and research. Fair use enables faculty in non-profit educational institutions to use copyrighted materials in many instances without getting permission from the copyright holder as long as certain criteria are observed. Webster University is committed to the full exercise of the rights accorded to users of copyrighted works under the fair use provision of federal copyright law and has outlined specific guidelines that faculty may use to comply with fair use.
Web Enhancement
All faculty have access to a course home page for each of their classes in WorldClassRoom. Students are automatically given access to this course home page without the instructor having to load them. We encourage faculty to use WorldClassRoom deliver learning content, facilitate interaction, and to extend the capabilities of the traditional classroom.
Thesis Guidelines
The Graduate Theses Guidelines provide all of the information and forms students will need to propose, write, format, and get final approval for theses completed for the 6250 or 8000 courses.
Webster University Library
Webster’s Library is a valuable resource to faculty in the pursuit of improving student learning. The library staff plays an important role in making faculty projects successful. The FDC will often consult with liaison librarians to take advantage their special understanding of resources and needs of each of Webster’s disciplines. Additionally, the services provided by the Faculty Research Service can be made a part of a larger faculty instructional project.
Refworks
Refworks is a bibliographic management software available to all faculty and students. Its collaborative features make it easier document and share sources that are being used in faculty instructional project.
Plagiarism Resources for Faculty
The purpose of this web site is to provide faculty with the information they need to discourage plagiarism, including resources for students, information on designing plagiarism resistant assignments, and resources for detecting plagiarism in assignments. Additionally, you will find Webster’s policy on plagiarism, and a description of what to do to deal with an instance of plagiarism.
Turnitin and GradeMark
The use of Turnitin is highly recommended as the method instructors use to accept written assignments.
GradeMark, a companion product to Turnitin, is highly recommended as a tool to create an entirely paperless workflow with your classes writing assignments. GradeMark can simplify the process of editing and returning papers to your students.
eReserves
The eReserves (electronic reserves) system allows faculty to place reserve items on the web so the material is accessible to students 24 hours a day to view, download and print. The system accepts and displays documents in any format, including PDF, HTML, word processor files, spreadsheets, PowerPoint Presentations, and audio or video files. eReserves can be used in conjunction with WorldClassRoom. Materials that may be posted on eReserves include copyrighted materials such as journal articles, book chapters, as long as Webster University’s fair use guidelines are followed.
